Hermes Agent is an open-source autonomous agent developed by Nous Research under the MIT License. Unlike traditional coding copilots or API chatbot wrappers tethered to a specific platform, Hermes Agent resides on your server. It enhances its capabilities over time by learning from your projects, developing its automatic skills, and leveraging a robust memory model that retains solutions to previously encountered problems. The agent accommodates a wide range of channels including Telegram, Discord, Slack, WhatsApp, Signal, Email, and CLI. It comes with an auto-scheduling functionality that uses natural language processing to schedule reports, run backups, and conduct briefings. Isolated subagents operate in parallel with their own conversations, terminals, and Python RPC scripts for creating pipelines without contextual costs. It also incorporates a real sandboxing feature with options like local, Docker, SSH, Singularity, and Modal, ensuring container hardening and namespace isolation, which improves security. The agent has a full web and browser control suite allowing it to perform tasks like web searches, browser automation, image generation, text-to-speech, and more.
